My Grandma lived in the mountains of Kentucky. The fabric she used to make quilts was left over scraps from clothing that she made or fabrics that her daughters brought to her. The block patterns were usually simple. But sometimes there was a quilt with more complexity.

Grandma had seven children with my mom being the next to youngest. Grandma had made so many quilts that when we were all gathered for the holidays, everyone could sleep under a handmade quilt.

When Grandma passes away, her daughters went through the quilts. Although many were torn and had holes from years of use, there were enough good quilts that each of us grandchildren received one of her quilts.
