I think I will pause the history for a moment and write about the quilt that I am using as my theme.
My son asked us over for supper one day. We sat on the couch while we were eating, and he started a movie to watch. As we sat watching, my son says, "We are going to have one of those." and continued to eat his food. In the movie, there was a baby.
It took us a moment to realized what he said. "Wait. What?"
Congratulations followed.
So, now I know I will be making a baby quilt.
They did want to know the gender and found out the baby will be a girl.
I pulled out all of my pink and white material. The cutting and sewing proceeded.
I will let you know, I am not a perfectionist. I see now that the white background with pink flowers should not be on the outer edge of the heart. From far away, it looks like a piece of the heart is missing. But I am not a perfectionist, and it stayed that way.
The quilt was given during the baby shower in which both mom and dad were present. They pulled the quilt from the bag and let it unfold. My son held the quilt up so all could see. Because the pending birth date would be in February, I heard some say that was the reason for the hearts.
I spoke up and stated, "No. It is because she already has Mamaw's heart."
(The picture in the cover photo was taken during the baby shower. The picture in this blog was taken almost 5 years later.)
