I don't know much about this quilt. I know my mom made it when we were young. Attached is both a picture of the full quilt and a close-up of her hand stitching. The colors always made me think of Christmas. But I don't know if that was the look she was trying to represent.
I do have a story though.
We grew up on a small farm, out in the country, outside of a small town. My mom was hand quilting quilts for others as a way to make some extra money.
My mom's sister lived the next big city over. She was telling others about her sister hand quilting, made some connections, and a lady asked if she could quilt one for her.
When the quilt was done, they met back up. And that is when my mom discovered who this lady was.
She was the mother (or was it the mother-in-law?) of the mayor for that big city!
Now, I don't know about you. But being from out in the country of a small town, that was a big deal. Doing some work for someone related to the mayor of a big city!
That is when my mom gave this advice -
"Always do your best. You never know who is going to see it."
